For Loss

I am a fairly sensitive person, I always have been.  I get caught up in not only my own feelings but the feelings of others.  I have a deep sadness this week in the wake of yet another tragedy that took many lives way too early.

I know that God too is weeping along with the families in Connecticut this week.  It gives me great hope for humanity when people join together to mourn with those who are experiencing loss.

Here is a video from "The Voice" this week:

Thankful Thursday #20

Today is my 33rd birthday, a time to celebrate and a time to be thankful for another year of life.  Today I am thankful for:

1) That life is good

2) That I have been married for over seven years and it keeps getting better and that I keep learning new fun things about my best friend.  I love you, Brett.

3) My family - all of the weird, loving, fun people in it

Psalm 136: Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!

Thankful Thursday #19

Today I am thankful for:

1) A job that isn't a "job," but rather an excuse to dialogue about God and be relational.

2) Friends and partners for the journey.

3) Jehovah Jireh - a God who provides.

Psalm 106: 48 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, From everlasting even to everlasting.
And let all the people say, “Amen.” Praise the LORD!

Travel Dreams

I've been thinking a lot lately about the places I would love to see at some point in my life. This list is in no way complete, but it's a start:
1) India - it's always been a dream. I was signed up for a Tri-S (student) trip at AU and it got cancelled due to instability:

2) Ireland - The beauty of the hills, the fact that there is a river with my name, the fun accents, the castles:

3) Egypt - to see the pyramids:

4) Greece - for the significance of the religious history:

5) France - because I studied French/France in high school and at that point I wanted to see the country we studied:

6) Germany - for the history and the castles:
Germany

7) China - for the Great Wall amongst other things:

8) And of course I would love to go back to Israel...

This is a short list.  If I had the money - I'm pretty sure I'd just travel the world.  Every place is unique and beautiful in it's own way.

Travel Log: California and Vegas

This year Brett's travels for work took him to Southern California and Las Vegas.  We had a lovely time in the beautiful sun and visiting many places (Hollywood, the Getty Museum, Griffith Park Observatory, the Pacific Coast highway, the Pacific Ocean, Knotts Berry farm, the Strip in Vegas, and more).

We met Joel and he took us to an amazing Korean BBQ place:

We went up to the Griffith Park Observatory and watched the sun set, you can also see the Hollywood sign from there:

In Hollywood we stopped at Grauman's Chinese Theater:

We also went up to the Getty Museum, the art work is delightful but even the grounds are artistic!

Then we drove to Vegas and had dinner on the Strip!

We had a delightful time (oh yeah and Brett bowled as well!)  I only got 24 hours in Vegas though and that is not enough, I'm going to have to go back there.
